Shaxi is a special place.
Where is Shaxi?
Shaxi is one of my favorite places in Yunnan.
In my heart it is like Deia in Mallorca (Spain), or Big Sur in California (USA).
I still need to fill this page with pictures and stories. Again, this is not an authoritative page but a small attempt to tell something about Shaxi and Duan Village.

Shaxi is really a valley peppered with small villages or communities.
A river runs (meanders) right through the middle.
Farming is the main industry.
In the distance we can see Duan Village where Yunxin lives with his family. It has been the home of his wife's relatives for centuries.
That is the temple/theater in the village.
The theater and temple has a small Bed and Breakfast in the enclosed courtyard.
I should be able to add more about this building. I mean historically and culturally.
A Swiss based Foundation restored many of the theaters on the Shaxi Valley.
The theater is also a small temple with figures and deities to protect the village and help the farmers get better crops.
These are the 5 bedrooms.
Miss XiaoJiang is resting in the teahouse opposite to the theater.

Walking from the mountain during Spring Festival. We went to another temple to thank the gods and spirits of the mountains for a great year to come.
The theater is the tallest building in town (still).
